Environmental impact assessment (Life Cycle Assessment), circular economy, recovery of critical elements
2.5 Life-cycle-analysis of raw materials
Circular Economy and Resource Efficiency Research Group under TUBITAK MAM develops knowledge and technology for the benefit of society through national and international research and development activities in line with the circular economy aiming to fulfil needs in the fields of resource efficiency, life cycle assessment, and utilization of secondary raw materials.
The Research Group carries out product-based life cycle assessment for manufacturing sectors. In addition, RG has been developing datasets for 6 sectors such as water, energy, cement, steel, lime, and transport within the scope of the “Development of The National Life Cycle Assessment Database” project for 5 years. In addition, LCA studies have been carried out for private sectors. We are the team that constantly develops itself on this subject.
TUBITAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) Climate Change and Sustainability Vice Presidency (CCSP) develops knowledge and technology for the benefit of society through national and international research and development activities in line with sustainable development goals, aiming to fulfill needs in the fields of environmental protection, technology and cleaner production. CCSP with more than 130 personnel, 25 laboratories and one fully-equipped research vessel conducts research activities in the following research areas: Sustainable Environmental Management, Environmental Technologies, Marine and Underwater Studies, Life Cycle Management, Sustainable Consumption and Production, and Circular Economy.
MAM, CCSP performs its research in accredited laboratories (EN ISO/IEC 17025:2000 General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories). As of today, the total number of accredited analysis is 271 and parameters are 1200. CCSP’ top priority in all its activities is the client-focused service and quality. As a result, it’s owned the certificates of ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management Systems and ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Systems in 2001.
In 2013, TUBITAK MAM has taken over the responsibility of being the National Cleaner Production Centre for Türkiye. In this content, the project are carried about;
• Cleaner production audits
• Resource efficiency potential for manufacturing industry
• Environmental impact analysis
• Recovery of critical elements from waste and wastewater
