The University of Pretoria (UP) is one of Africa’s top universities and the largest contact university in South Africa. The university is organised into nine faculties and a business school. The Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences is the largest of its kind in Africa. The Department of Biochemistry, Genetics and Microbiology, established as a merged department in 2018, was originally separate departments stemming from the Department of Biochemistry, Genetics and Microbiology and Plant Pathology.
